BS EN 4855-03:2020 pdf download.Aerospace series — ECO efficiency of catering equipment Part 03: Chilling equipment.
5 General test conditions
5.1 Measurements and calculations
The measurements and calculations shall be done as follows:
a) measurement of electrical power;
b) measurement of the Pull-Down-Time;
c) weight measurement of galley chilling equipment;
d) calculation of ECI and P1.
5.2 Environmental conditions
Environmental conditions shall be according to EN 48S5-0 1.
5.3 Power supply and voltage
Power supply and voltage shall be according to EN 4855-01.
5.4 Measurement equipment
Measurement equipment shall be according to EN 4855-01.
5.5 Test set up
Test set up shall be according to EN 4855-01.
5.6 Test medium
The test medium is a standardized package in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped as specified in EN 62552.
5.7 General conditions for weight measurement
General conditions for weight measurement shall be according to EN 4855-01.
5.8 Operation conditions
The test is only applicable for EUT with a freeze function. The EUT shall be set to freezing mode. If a temperature can be Set, It shall be adjusted to —10 O( Otherwise it shall be set to freeze mode to operate not greater than —10°C. For three mode freezers with freezing, beverage chilling and refrigeration mode available the test shall he done in freezing mode as per above.
6 Test procedures
6.1 Preparation of test medium
The EUT shall be filled with the maximum possible amount or test media according to EN 62552.
6.2 Energy consumption test
The test conditions described in EN 4855-01 shall be ensured before start of the test run.
The purpose of this test is to measure the power demand of the galley chilling equipment.
The duration of one test is 3 h. It shall he ensured that the door of the EPJT is closed during the whole test run.
a) The test starts after loading the EUT with the test media and closing of the front door. The logging shall be started and the power shall be recorded over the whole test duration. The measured power has to be integrated over the test duration for energy consumption calculation. The energy consumption shall be given in kVAh.
b) The temperature of the EIJT has to be set as given in SE.
c) The duration of the Pull-Down-Time shall be noted as follows: For freezers, the Pull-Down-Time after cooling down by 10 K shall be noted.
d) The following results shall be noted:
1) energy consumption after 60 mm (E0 F);
2) average steady state power (P5 p) between 60 mm and 180 mm.
After 180 mm test duration the logging has to be stopped and the EUT shall be turned off. All test media shall be taken out from the LIlT.
6.3 Measurement of the Inner usable volume The inner usable volume shall be measured as follows;
a) for all equipment types the inner usable volume cavity equals the volume of used test media during the test procedure described in 6.1;
b) the volume cavity shall be noted in the table shown in EN 4855-OL
7 Evaluation and calculation
7.1 General
All test results shall be noted into the table given in Annex A.
7.2 Calculation of energy consumption index (ECI)
To determine the energy consumption index (ECI) for galley chilling equipment the following equation shall be used.
