4Ratings
Clause 4 of lEC 60694 is applicable with the additions and exceptions indicated below. In addition to the ratings listed in lEC 60694 the following ratings apply:
k raled short-circuit breaking current
l)rated transient recovery voltagem) rated short-circuit making current
m) rated transfer current for striker operation
n) rated taka-over current for a raleasa-operatad combination.
4.1Rated voltage (u,)
Subclause 4.1 of IEC 60694 is appiicable.
4.2Rated insulation level
Subclause 4.2 of IEC 60694 is applicable.
4.3Rated frequency U,)
Subclause 4.3 of IEC60694 is applicabla.
4.4Rated norma! current and temperature rise4.4.1 Rated normai current( ,)
Subclause 4.4.1 of IEC 60694 is appiicabie with the following addition:
The raled normal current applies to the complete combination, made of the combination baseand tha salacted fuses.
It is not required that the rated normal current is selected from the R10 series.4.4.2 Temperature risa
Subclause 4.4.2 of IEC 60694 is applicable and, as far as fuses are concerned, IEC 60282-1.
4.5 Rated short-time withstand current (k)
Subclause 4.5 of IEC60694 is not applicable.4.6Rated peak withstand current (ip)Subclause 4.6 of IEC 60694 is not applicable.
4.7 Rated duration of short-circuit ( e)Subclause 4.7 of IEC 60694 is not applicabie.
4.8 Rated supply voitage of ciosing and opening devices and auxiliary circuits (Us)Subclause 4.8 of IEC 60694 is applicable.
4.9 Rated supply frequency of closing and opening
devices and of auxiliary circuits
Subclause 4.9 of IEC 60694 is applicable.
4.10 Rated pressure of compressed gas suppiy for operationSubclause 4.10 of lEC 60694 is applicable.
4.101 Rated short-circuit breaking current
The rated short-circuit breaking current is the highest prospective short-circuit current whichthe combination shall be capable of breaking under the conditions of use and behaviourprescribed in this standard in a circuit having a power-frequency recovery voltage corres-ponding to the rated voltage of the combination and having a prospective transient recoveryvoltage equal to the rated value specified in 4.102.
T he rated short-circuit breaking current is expressed by the r.m.s. value of its a.c.component.
The rated short-circuit breaking currents shall be seiected from the R10 series as follows:
NOTE ll is recognized thal the series impedance of the combinalion or rapid operalion of the fuses or swilch maycause one or both of the following effecls:
a) a reduction of short-circuit current to a value appreciably below that which would otherwise be reached;
b) such rapid operation that the short-circuit current wave is distorted from its normal form. This is why the termprospective currenl” is used when assessing breaking and making performances.
4.102 Rated transient recovery voltage
The rated transient recovery voltage related to the rated short-circuit breaking current (inaccordance with 4.101) is the reference voltage which constitutes the upper limit of theprospective transient recovery voltage of circuits which the combination shall be capable ofbreaking in tha avent of a short circuit.
For the parameters of the prospective transient recovery voltage, IEC 60282-1 applies.
The raled shorl-circuilt making current is the highest prospeclive peak current which the
combination shall be capable of making under the conditions of u9e and behaviour defined in this standard in a circuit having a power-frequency voltage corresponding to the rated voltage of the combination. It shall be 2,5 times (50 Hz) or 2.6 times (60 Hz) the value of the rated short-circuit breaking current.
NOTE See aiso ihe note in 4.101.
4.104 Rated transfer current (striker operation) (transfor)
The rated transfer current is the maximum r.m.s. value of the transfer current which the switch in the combination is able to interrupt.
4.105 Rated take-over current for release-operated combinations (to)
The rated take-over current is the maximum r.m.s. vaiue of the take-over current which the switch in the combination is able to interrupl.
