SA5 Weight and Moment
SA5.1 The requirements in Weight. Size, and Moment in the Standard for Seif-BaMasted Lamps and
Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply in addition to the requirements in this section.
SA5.2 The requirements in Weight. Size, and Moment in the Standard for Seif-Ballasted Lamps and
Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply only to the lamps with the bases specified in Weight. Size, and Moment. SA5.3 Unless there is provis.on to support additional mass (weight) so the device Is not solely supported by general use lampholders. a device supported only by a pair of pin lamp bases and holders (see Devices Substituting for Linear Fluorescent Lamps, Section SAl 3) shall have a mass (weight):
a) Not more than 0.2 kg (7 oz or 044 lbs) when using a G5 base: or
b) Not more than 0.5 kg (17.6 oz or 1.1 Ibs) when using a G13 base. ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION
SA6 Lamp Bases and Lampholders
SA6. 1 The requirements in Lamp Bases and Lamp Holders in the Standard for Selt-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply in addition to the requirements in this section.
SA6.2 The requirements in Lamp Bases and Lamp Holders in the Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply to all lamps.
SA6.3 A lamp with other than an Edison screwbase shall have a base that complies the dimensions of a base specified in the Standard for Electrical Lamp Bases — Specihcations for Bases (Caps) for Electric Lamps, NEMA ANSLG C61.61.
SA6.4 For the requirements in Devices Substituting for Linear Fluorescent Lamps, Section SA13, intended for G5 or G13 lamp bases, and used for mechanical support only shall not be interconnected (short-circuited) or connected to dead metal parts of the lamp base. These devices shall be subjected to the requirements in Isofahon of Lamp Pins. Section SA26.
SA6.5 For the requirements In Devices Substituting for Linear Fluorescent Lamps, Section SA13, intended for G5 or Gi 3 lamp bases and are for electrical connection to the lampholders. adjacent contacts within a lamp base shall not be connected or shorted together.
SA7 Ballasts and LED Drivers
SA7.1The requirements in Ballasts and LED Drivers in the Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps and LampAdapters,UL 1993 apply in addition to the requirements in this section.
SA7.2 Paragraphs 6.4.1 -6.4.4 of the Standard for Self”-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters,uL 1993are not applicable to LED drivers.Paragraphs 6.4.5,6.4.6,and 6.4.7 of the Standard for Self-BallastedLamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 are applicable to LED drivers.
SA7.3 Drivers for LEDs have outputs that are categorized as:
a) Class 2 circuit;
b) lsolated from the supply, but above the Class 2 circuit limits; orc) Direct connected.
SA7.4 The construction of the LED driver shall comply with the applicable requirements in the Standardfor Light Emitting Diode (LED)Equipment for Use In Lighting Products, UL 8750.
SA7.5 The LED driver shall comply with the component fault condition tests specified in LED Lamp andDriver Abnormal Condition Tests,Section SA28.
SA8 Spacing of Electrical Parts
SA8.1 The requirements in Spacing of Electrical Parts in the Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps andLamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply in addition to the requirements in this section.
SA8.2 Spacing at an ANSl lamp base are based on the ANSl lampholder spacing and not on the generalspacings in the Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993.
SA8.3 For spacings on a printed wiring board the spacing requirements in the Standard for Light EmittingDiode (LED) Equipment for Use In Lighting Products, UL 8750 apply.
SA9 Light Source – Light Emitting Diodes (LED)
SA9.1 The requirements in Light Source – Light Emitting Diodes (LED) in the Standard for Sel-BallastedLamps and Lamp Adapters, UL 1993 apply in addition to the requirements in this section.
